SQLite Expert embedded database engine. In 2005, the project was awarded the prize GoogleO’Reilly Open Source Awards. The word "embedded"means that SQLite does not use a clientserver paradigm, the SQLite engine is not a separately running process, interacts with the program, and provides alibrary with which the program is assembled and the engine becomes part of the program. Thus, as a communications protocol used by function calls (API)libraries SQLite. This approach reduces overhead costs, response time and simplifies the program. SQLite stores the entire database (including definitions,tables, indexes and data) in a single standard file on the computer on which the executable program. Ease of implementation achieved by the fact that beforethe execution of the transaction the entire file that stores the database is blocked.

Multiple processes or threads can simultaneously without any problem to read data from one database. Anentry in the database can be done only if no other requests are currently not served, otherwise the record attempt fails, and the program returns an errorcode (an alternative scenario is the automatic repetition of attempts to account for a specified time period) .
